Washington DC, June 2, 2004 – Proving that
it is indeed possible to be a lover and a fighter, Women
Against Bush, ActForLove.org, and a range of other progressive groups
will hold the first ever “Singles Against Bush” mixer this Thursday, June
3rd, in Washington, DC. The soiree will begin at 7pm, and will
take place at “The Reef” (2446 18th St. NW, in Adams
Morgan).
“For the first time
ever, DC-area singles who want to ‘take action’ will be able
to ‘get action’ at the same time,” said Caryn Schenewerk, founder and
president of Running in Heels, an unconnected political committee, and
its current project, Women Against Bush. “With any luck, we won’t just
be creating new energy for the election in 2004 – we’ll be
helping bring about matches that will create new voters for the
2024.”
The
ladies behind Women Against
Bush, who’ve made recent headlines with their “Bush Free Zone” panties and
mobilizing the “Sex and the City” vote, will be hosting the event
with ActForLove.org, Run Against Bush, ProjectNEXT, YDems Can, ReDefeat Bush, and
TheNaderFactor.com.
ACTFORLOVE.ORG TO GIVE “SHAGG” AWARD TO “WOMEN AGAINST
BUSH”
As part of the night’s
events, ActForLove.org, a dating site for activists, will present its first ever
“SHAGG” award for grassroots creative excellence to Women Against Bush.
The SHAGG (“Spectacularly Helpful ActForLove.org Grassroots Grant”) Award will consist of a
monetary contribution to help the group’s efforts, a “SHAGGIE” award, and a
jar of edible massage oil (aka, “Act For Love Potion #
9”).
“The level of boredom in politics has
reached a critical stage – never have so many been so
bored by so few,” said John Hlinko, founder of ActForLove.org. “That is
why we at ActForLove.org have launched the SHAGG Award, and
why we are proud to support the incredibly creative efforts of Women
Against Bush. There is no question that they deserve this SHAGG Award.
And that is why ActForLove.org can’t wait to SHAGG Women Against
Bush.”
THE PARTY: FLIRTING, FUN, BOXERS, AND PANTIES – ALL AGAINST
BUSH
Sexy prizes and flirty games will break the ice for even for
reserved Bush-bashers. And every man will have the chance to get the new “Rise
Up Against Bush” boxers being debuted by the Women Against Bush
team. Name tags complete with hearts designating “Single,” “Taken” or “Persuadable” will
allow participants to easily identify potential paramours. “This is truly
party - and panty - politics at its best,” said Schenewerk. “So
join us on the Anti-Bush Love Train and help get George Bush
to move on down the line and out of the White
House!”
ABOUT WOMEN AGAINST
BUSH

Fun, fashionable, fed-up women whose bras are too attractive to burn. Prefer
brunching to brow-beating, but willing to throw their cocktails in the face of oppression,
sexism and the lies that make up "compassionate conservatism." Pull up
a stool, we're the women you've been looking for. "Bush is OUT
in 2004!" WomenAgainstBush.org, is focused on defeating George W. Bush
in the November 2004 election. After four years of steadily eroding women's

that help them raise healthy children, it's time for change...Women Against
Bush!
